Gambling and racing regulator grants Lottoland two licenses in South Africa

Global online lotto operator, Lottoland Limited, has revealed that the South African Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board has granted it a pair of licenses, including a manufacturing license for the development and use of the company’s own software for the purpose of business operations, and a bookmakers license to offer South African consumers fixed odds betting contingencies.

According to a press release, both licenses are already in effect and South African players are now able to wager on the outcomes of more than 30 lotteries worldwide from Lottoland’s SA website, www.lottoland.co.za, which is now live.

Record jackpot opportunity:

South African citizens will for the first time have a chance to win record jackpots much like those delivered by America‘s two big jackpot games, Mega Millions and Powerball, both multi-state lottery games, or European jackpots.

Bookmaker collaboration:

By obtaining a manufacturing license, the British online lottery operator’s B2B arm, Lottoland Solutions, will be able to team up with licensed African bookmakers looking to add similar global jackpots to their current customer base and provide them with insurance through Lottland.

Proven benefits:

Having made one lucky player the recipient of a Guinness World Record €90 million (US$101.2 million) payday in June 2018, Lottoland’s proprietary risk management enables an ever-increasing amount of top operators to benefit from the operating arm’s proven and one-of-a-kind lotto betting solutions.

Commenting on the key licensing, Chief Executive Officer for Lottoland, Nigel Birrell, said…

“We are pleased to have been granted these licences in South Africa. Lottoland now hold twelve regulated licenses around the world – a great achievement for us and testament to us as a global brand and company. We strongly believe that Lottoland is uniquely placed in the South African market to be able to offer our portfolio of fixed odds lottery products and insurance related services giving South Africans the opportunity to win some of the largest jackpots in the world,” according to the press release.

SportCaller tie-up:

Late last year, Lottoland announced that it had partnered with free-to-play sports prediction games provider, SportCaller, for the purpose of launching the new Jungle Jackpot, the free-play game that gives players the chance to win up to £1 million ($1.28 million) in cash by correctly predicting the final rankings of the 12 celebrity contestants who take part in the British survival reality television game show, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
